Please read our Homing Criteria BEFORE applying for any of our dogs.

BREED: Collie Cross
SEX: Male (Neutered)
AGE: Aprox. 8 Years
SIZE: Medium/Large (17kg)

Poor Diesel is looking for someone special to make up for his sad past. .Very sadly, his previous owner who was a farmer living alone, had passed away. Arrangements were made to collect and rehome the two working farm collies, but once they had been collected, the rescuers were amazed to find another dog living on the premises, and that was poor Diesel, not living in the best of conditions either. He had been neglected and apparently total forgotten. A kindly volunteer took him home and has been teaching him about living in a house, walking on a lead, and that people can be loving and caring, but she was not able to keep him long term due to her own health problems, and so he has come to DBARC to start the next and brighter chapter in his life by finding a loving permanent home.

Diesel is a very sweet boy, but we know very little about his longer term history. We don't know if he has lived with cats or small pets or children and therefore will not be placing him with children under 10 years. We do know that he is good with other dogs and that he is just a lovely boy who so deserves a loving home. He is ready to give all the love he has to his own special someone.

When a dog moves into a new home, they need time and consideration to help them feel confident and settled. They are having to adjust to a totally different environment, with new people and new challenges, and when one adopts a rescue dog, one must be ready to help them through not just the first few days, but for as long as it takes for them to feel comfortable in their new life. They are relying on their new owners to teach them the house rules and all about the new world they are living in. They are likely to need and benefit from dog training classes, and may also need behavioural help and the adopter may need to seek professional advice. If you are considering adopting, please be very sure that you are committed to the needs of your new friend, as they will be relying on you and their life and happiness is literally in your hands. This will last for their lifetime, so please also take an honest look at your age and activity levels and ensure that you are likely to be able to meet their ongoing needs.
