BONNIE

Please read our Homing Criteria BEFORE applying for any of our dogs.

BREED: Labrador Type
SEX: Female (Neutered)
AGE: Aprox. 9 Months
SIZE: Large (21kg)

Beautiful young Bonnie has been surrendered to rescue because her former owner has a new baby and was finding it impossible to cope with the needs of a newborn and a very active young dog, particularly since her home did not have a garden. So although Bonnie has been loved and well cared-for thus far in her young life, it was certainly in her best interests to find her a more suitable new home.

Bonnie has had a little basic training, but will certainly need a whole lot more, and this has been neglected of late so her new owner needs to be willing and able to work with this lovely young dog to help her catch up. Bonnie is a quick learner, but does have quite a lot to learn! She is a very friendly dog, but is probably too bouncy to live with young children. She has not lived with cats or small pets, and has not lived with other dogs, but will need careful socialising to remedy this, and dog training classes will be a must for this young lady!

Bonnie is a very active and bright youngster, so will need plenty of regular exercise and an interesting lifestyle. She will need company most of the time.

When a dog moves into a new home, they need time and consideration to help them feel confident and settled. They are having to adjust to a totally different environment, with new people and new challenges, and when one adopts a rescue dog, one must be ready to help them through not just the first few days, but for as long as it takes for them to feel comfortable in their new life. They are relying on their new owners to teach them the house rules and all about the new world they are living in. They are likely to need and benefit from dog training classes, and may also need behavioural help and the adopter may need to seek professional advice. If you are considering adopting, please be very sure that you are committed to the needs of your new friend, as they will be relying on you and their life and happiness is literally in your hands. This will last for their lifetime, so please also take an honest look at your age and activity levels and ensure that you are likely to be able to meet their ongoing needs.
