BREED: French Bulldog X
SEX: Female
AGE: Aprox. 3 Years
SIZE: Medium

Wilma is a lovely, affectionate, intelligent dog who loves being the centre of attention. This does mean that she should NOT share a home with other dogs, cats or younger children. But she likes nothing better than snuggling up with you in a comfy chair in the evening.

She is fully house trained and rarely has accidents - she’ll stand at the back door when she needs to go. She’s used to sleeping in the kitchen, goes straight to her bed when told and doesn’t make a fuss or wake up early wanting attention.

She does get upset about anything that makes a whooshing noise - vacuum cleaners, aerosols, etc. These will make her bark and jump at the source.

She doesn’t mind other dogs when she’s out and about - in fact she mostly ignores them! She loves walks and has good recall, especially if you have treats. She LOVES chasing balls - take a throwing stick and ball out for a walk and she’ll repeatedly bring it back and drop it at your feet. Don’t worry - she’ll let you know when she’s had enough, she’ll just carry the ball in her mouth. She was happy in a dog cage in the car, even on long journeys.

At home she loves chew toys. She hasn’t been in a home where everyone leaves for work during the day, but when she has been left at home on her own for a few hours it hasn’t been a problem.

This is a dog in good health, who is full of character - she has issues with sharing her humans and territory with other dogs, and unusual whooshing sounds, but aside from that she loves to be with adults.

When a dog moves into a new home, they need time and consideration to help them feel confident and settled. They are having to adjust to a totally different environment, with new people and new challenges, and when one adopts a rescue dog, one must be ready to help them through not just the first few days, but for as long as it takes for them to feel comfortable in their new life. They are relying on their new owners to teach them the house rules and all about the new world they are living in. They are likely to need and benefit from dog training classes, and may also need behavioural help and the adopter may need to seek professional advice. If you are considering adopting, please be very sure that you are committed to the needs of your new friend, as they will be relying on you and their life and happiness is literally in your hands. This will last for their lifetime, so please also take an honest look at your age and activity levels and ensure that you are likely to be able to meet their ongoing needs.
