BREED: Collie Cross
SEX: Male (Neutered)
AGE: Aprox. 4-5 Years
SIZE: Medium/Large (19 kg)

Jack had lived on a farm but was not a working sheepdog, and really not a companion dog either, as he was largely ignored by the farmer, and then started visiting a neighbour on frequent occasions, most likely because he was just lonely. Then one day he turned up on his visit attached to a length of chain and a piece of board so he had clearly not been willing to accept being chained up on his own and had done something about it! The neighbour decided to talk to the farmer and it was agreed that Jack wasn't wanted, so it was agreed that the neighbour would foster him and then a new permanent home could be sought, because although the neighbour loved him, he felt he was not able to give him the long term active lifestyle Jack needs.

Jack has not lived with cats or small pets, and has not lived with children, so we would not wish to place him with youngsters under 10 years. His fosterer has another dog, a smaller older dog, and the two lived happily together. Jack was also the perfect house guest, and is anall round delightful dog.

As a typical collie type, Jack is intelligent and energetic, so will need an active and interesting lifestyle, and would love to be trained for a doggie sport such as Agility or Flyball. He loves his walks and fun, and will need company most of the time.

When a dog moves into a new home, they need time and consideration to help them feel confident and settled. They are having to adjust to a totally different environment, with new people and new challenges, and when one adopts a rescue dog, one must be ready to help them through not just the first few days, but for as long as it takes for them to feel comfortable in their new life. They are relying on their new owners to teach them the house rules and all about the new world they are living in. They are likely to need and benefit from dog training classes, and may also need behavioural help and the adopter may need to seek professional advice. If you are considering adopting, please be very sure that you are committed to the needs of your new friend, as they will be relying on you and their life and happiness is literally in your hands. This will last for their lifetime, so please also take an honest look at your age and activity levels and ensure that you are likely to be able to meet their ongoing needs.
