BENNY

Please read our Homing Criteria BEFORE applying for any of our dogs.

BREED: Collie Cross
SEX: Male (Neutered)
AGE: Aprox. 7 Months
SIZE: Medium (15kg)

Benny has come from a farm environment but was lacking in the confidence to work with livestock so has now been discarded to rescue. He is a lovely young dog with a very gentle and loving nature, and although he has had little basic domestic training, he is very bright and eager to learn, and just needs a kind and caring new owner to teach him all about life and all about having fun! He is already learning how to play, something he will have had little or no experience of, and is fascinated by tennis balls!

Benny has been used to living with other dogs, and will need to have his sociable behaviour maintained by careful mixing with other nice-natured dogs, and by attending dog training classes, which will be an essential part of his new life. He has not lived with children and so we would not wish to place him with youngsters under 10 years. He has not lived with cats or small pets.

Benny will need a new owner who has had dogs before and who enjoys training an intelligent dog who is a bit of a blank canvas at the moment. He will be an active and intelligent dog, so will need a fun and stimulating lifestyle with lots of exercise - and LOTS of cuddles! He will need company most of the time.

When a dog moves into a new home, they need time and consideration to help them feel confident and settled. They are having to adjust to a totally different environment, with new people and new challenges, and when one adopts a rescue dog, one must be ready to help them through not just the first few days, but for as long as it takes for them to feel comfortable in their new life. They are relying on their new owners to teach them the house rules and all about the new world they are living in. They are likely to need and benefit from dog training classes, and may also need behavioural help and the adopter may need to seek professional advice. If you are considering adopting, please be very sure that you are committed to the needs of your new friend, as they will be relying on you and their life and happiness is literally in your hands. This will last for their lifetime, so please also take an honest look at your age and activity levels and ensure that you are likely to be able to meet their ongoing needs.
