BREED: Collie Cross
SEX: Male (Neutered)
AGE: Aprox. 1 -2 Years
SIZE: Medium (15 kg)

Skip was bought as a working sheepdog puppy and is apparently from good working parentage, but Skip had zero aptitude for the job, and eventually his farmer owner decided there was no point in proceeding with training his very reluctant pupil and that it would be in Skip's best interests to rehome him. Skip is a bright and very trainable dog who would love to use his brains in a doggie activity such as Flyball or Agility, or general dog training activities, but he just didn't see the point of sheep work!

Skip has lived with other farm dogs and was typically kenneled outside during the daytime and in the house at night, but will of course adjust to a normal household life. He has not lived with cats or small pets. He has lived with dog-savvy children ages from 7 to 11, but he is an active dog with a lot of bounce so would not be ideal with younger children.

Skip has not had much general training and although he is a quick study, he will need a new owner with the experience and energy to help him catch up. He will also need sensible introduction to life away from the farm world he is used to. He will need an interesting and active lifestyle and company most of the time.

When a dog moves into a new home, they need time and consideration to help them feel confident and settled. They are having to adjust to a totally different environment, with new people and new challenges, and when one adopts a rescue dog, one must be ready to help them through not just the first few days, but for as long as it takes for them to feel comfortable in their new life. They are relying on their new owners to teach them the house rules and all about the new world they are living in. They are likely to need and benefit from dog training classes, and may also need behavioural help and the adopter may need to seek professional advice. If you are considering adopting, please be very sure that you are committed to the needs of your new friend, as they will be relying on you and their life and happiness is literally in your hands. This will last for their lifetime, so please also take an honest look at your age and activity levels and ensure that you are likely to be able to meet their ongoing needs.
