BREED: Miniature Schnauzer
SEX: Female (Neutered)
AGE: Aprox. 8 Years
SIZE: Small/Medium (7kg)

Little Harper is a Black & Silver schnauzer who has come to us as her owner was too ill to care for her anymore.

She has come in with another older companion and we had hoped to home them together. Unfortunately her friend has several medical problems which may be ongoing - so the decision has been made to find Harper a loving home without her friend.

She has been staying with us with another two schnauzers who she gets on very well - and when her companion is away she does not seem to miss him - so we feel as long as she has another gentle dog to be her companion, she will settle in to a home well. As she has always lived with another dog - we will not home her to a home without a companion for her.

Harper is a shy little girl, quite sensitive so will need kind and caring adopters to help her settle into her new home. She is very friendly with both other dogs and people - she is a real delight.

She had an unfortunate incident when she had a dental recently and bit her tongue very badly on waking which resulted in it having to be stitched up. This has left her with a slightly disfigured tongue on one side but does not stop her eating her meals and of course her treats!

Harper is a typical, feisty little schnauzer who is ideally looking for a home with previous schnauzer owning adopters who hopefully have another schnauzer to be her friend. Schnauzers are very sociable dogs and really love their own breed - so fingers crossed she gets her wish!

When a dog moves into a new home, they need time and consideration to help them feel confident and settled. They are having to adjust to a totally different environment, with new people and new challenges, and when one adopts a rescue dog, one must be ready to help them through not just the first few days, but for as long as it takes for them to feel comfortable in their new life. They are relying on their new owners to teach them the house rules and all about the new world they are living in. They are likely to need and benefit from dog training classes, and may also need behavioural help and the adopter may need to seek professional advice. If you are considering adopting, please be very sure that you are committed to the needs of your new friend, as they will be relying on you and their life and happiness is literally in your hands. This will last for their lifetime, so please also take an honest look at your age and activity levels and ensure that you are likely to be able to meet their ongoing needs.
