ELLA

£0.00

Please read our Homing Criteria BEFORE applying for any of our dogs.

BREED: Terrier Cross
SEX: Female (Neutered)
AGE: Aprox. 5 Years
SIZE: Medium (10kg)

Sweet Ella was originally given up for rehoming due to a change in her family's circumstances and due to no fault of her own. She is a very happy, lively and friendly dog, full of fun and just loves to be around people. She travels well in the car and is good to handle including to bath and groom, and sees life as a great adventure. We thought things were looking up for Ella when she was chosen for adoption, but sadly she was returned after less than 2 days in what we believed would be her forever home. Her adopters considered she was not good with other dogs. We were baffled by this as we have had her mixing happily with all the other dogs here at the rescue, interacting really well both on and off the lead, and always ready to race around and play with other dogs of all shapes and sizes, as our photos show. We had identified and explained at length to the adopters that Ella had not been good with other dogs when at the Vets, however. Many dogs react badly to other dogs in a stressful situation like a Vets surgery. Similarly, rescue dogs may react in other stressful situations at first, until they understand that their new owner will keep them safe, and this can even be in the apparently calm environment of the new home, because of course the dog has no idea that this is now their safe place. This clearly demonstrates why it is not a good idea to put your new dog under pressure until they know and trust you. It is not, for example, a good idea to take your new dog out for a walk until they have settled in well, and it is not at all a good idea to have lots of visitors,, whether human or canine, until they are comfortable and feel secure at home.

Ella has not lived with children although she has met and mixed with children very happily, but we would like to place her in a home with children over 10 years. She has not lived with cats or small pets.

Ella walks well on the lead, and loves her walks so is looking for an active new owner to share lots of love and adventures! We would like to find someone for her who understands dogs, understands the fun but sometimes feisty terrier temperament, and who is ready, willing and able to give her the confidence and guidance she needs - even if at first sight she appears very confident, bless her. She has been used to having company most of the time.

Please fill in our Application Form if you are interested in adopting this dog

(If the animal’s name does not appear in the drop down box on the form - it means the animal is already reserved)
