Please read our Homing Criteria BEFORE applying for any of our dogs.

BREED: Labrador Cross
SEX: Female (Will be Neutered)
AGE: Aprox. 1 Year
SIZE: Large (23 Kg)

Lucy has come into rescue because her former owner luckily realised quite early on that trying to manage an active young dog and a very active large family with multiple young children was simply too much. This was certainly not the best start in life for Lucy who has inevitably not received the calm handling and careful training that all dogs really need, so will need a new owner ready to help her to catch up on all that she has missed out on. This will certainly need to include dog training classes as well as general lifeskill training and socialising.

Lucy has not lived with cats or small pets. She has not lived with other dogs but is young and will enjoy canine company as long as she gets to meet sociable dogs in a controlled environment, and this is another reason why training classes are so important for all young dogs. Although Lucy has lived with children, this was not in an ideal situation and we feel she should not be rehomed with children under 10 years as she now needs to learn and develop in a calm atmosphere.

Lucy is a very clever and trainable dog - she just needs to be around humans with the time and knowledge to teach her. She is full of fun and energy so will need an active lifestyle, and as with any young dog she will need company most of the time.

When a dog moves into a new home, they need time and consideration to help them feel confident and settled. They are having to adjust to a totally different environment, with new people and new challenges, and when one adopts a rescue dog, one must be ready to help them through not just the first few days, but for as long as it takes for them to feel comfortable in their new life. They are relying on their new owners to teach them the house rules and all about the new world they are living in. They are likely to need and benefit from dog training classes, and may also need behavioural help and the adopter may need to seek professional advice. If you are considering adopting, please be very sure that you are committed to the needs of your new friend, as they will be relying on you and their life and happiness is literally in your hands. This will last for their lifetime, so please also take an honest look at your age and activity levels and ensure that you are likely to be able to meet their ongoing needs.
