DEXTER
Please read our Homing Criteria BEFORE applying for any of our dogs.
BREED: Retriever Cross
SEX: Male (neutered)
AGE: Aprox. 1 Year
SIZE: Medium
Dexter is a handsome and very cheerful youngster who was handed into a dog pound as a stray and never reclaimed.. He has an outgoing and affectionate temperament and a constantly wagging tail - he just loves life and loves to be fussed and even just talked to! He simply enjoys human company!
As Dexter has no long term history, we would not wish to place him with children under 12 years. He is unknown with cats or small pets. He has been good and sociable with other dogs while in rescue care, and this will be best maintained by allowing him to meet with nice-natured dogs in a controlled environment, and dog training classes, which really are essential for a youngster, will massively help this.
Dexter is an intelligent and interactive dog who will need an interesting and active lifestyle. As with any young dog he will need company most of the time.
When a dog moves into a new home, they need time and consideration to help them feel confident and settled. They are having to adjust to a totally different environment, with new people and new challenges, and when one adopts a rescue dog, one must be ready to help them through not just the first few days, but for as long as it takes for them to feel comfortable in their new life. They are relying on their new owners to teach them the house rules and all about the new world they are living in. They are likely to need and benefit from dog training classes, and may also need behavioural help and the adopter may need to seek professional advice. If you are considering adopting, please be very sure that you are committed to the needs of your new friend, as they will be relying on you and their life and happiness is literally in your hands. This will last for their lifetime, so please also take an honest look at your age and activity levels and ensure that you are likely to be able to meet their ongoing needs.
