SAMMY
Please read our Homing Criteria BEFORE applying for any of our dogs.
BREED: Collie Cross Spaniel
SEX: Female (neutered)
AGE: Aprox. 1 -2 Years
SIZE: Medium
Sammy is a super lovely, super lively girl who just loves everyone! She was given up for rehoming because she was just too exuberant for her elderly owners, thus proving the point that one should take a long look at one's age and activity levels before taking on a young dog as it can be heartbreaking for both dog and surrendering owner when a rehome has to happen so early. Fortunately, Sammy is not apparently upset at all by her change in circumstances and is happy to be meeting lots of new people, and probably looking forward to meeting the special someone who will be her very own forever human!
Sammy has not lived with children, and would be too bouncy for children under 10 years. She has not lived with cats or small pets, She has been good with other dogs while in rescue care but would be too much for older or quiet dogs as she is very playful.
Sammy certainly needs some further training, and is a clever and quick study who will benefit from dog training classes. She is a very active dog who will need an owner who is able to give her plenty of exercise and mental stimulation. She will need company most of the time.
When a dog moves into a new home, they need time and consideration to help them feel confident and settled. They are having to adjust to a totally different environment, with new people and new challenges, and when one adopts a rescue dog, one must be ready to help them through not just the first few days, but for as long as it takes for them to feel comfortable in their new life. They are relying on their new owners to teach them the house rules and all about the new world they are living in. They are likely to need and benefit from dog training classes, and may also need behavioural help and the adopter may need to seek professional advice. If you are considering adopting, please be very sure that you are committed to the needs of your new friend, as they will be relying on you and their life and happiness is literally in your hands. This will last for their lifetime, so please also take an honest look at your age and activity levels and ensure that you are likely to be able to meet their ongoing needs.
