DOTTIE
Please read our Homing Criteria BEFORE applying for any of our dogs.
BREED: Collie Cross
SEX: Female (neutered)
AGE: Aprox. 10 months
SIZE: Medium
Sweet little Dottie has been given up for rehoming because her former owners decided they did not have time for a dog, which does highlight how important it is to be realistic about one's commitments before one takes on the responsibility for another life. So at such a young age, Dottie has found herself in rescue but we feel sure she will not have to wait too long to find a permanent, loving home because she is absolutely gorgeous! Dottie is a bright and affectionate dog and will be a lot of fun to raise and train, bless her.
Dottie has not lived with children, so we would not wish to place her with youngsters under 10 years unless they are used to lively dogs. She has not lived with cats or small pets. She has been good with other dogs while in rescue carem
As she is a young and dynamic dog, and a collie type, she will not only need plenty of exercise, but will also need training to catch up on early learning she may have missed, and will need an interesting and active lifestyle ongoing to keep her busy collie brain occupied! She will need company most of the time.
When a dog moves into a new home, they need time and consideration to help them feel confident and settled. They are having to adjust to a totally different environment, with new people and new challenges, and when one adopts a rescue dog, one must be ready to help them through not just the first few days, but for as long as it takes for them to feel comfortable in their new life. They are relying on their new owners to teach them the house rules and all about the new world they are living in. They are likely to need and benefit from dog training classes, and may also need behavioural help and the adopter may need to seek professional advice. If you are considering adopting, please be very sure that you are committed to the needs of your new friend, as they will be relying on you and their life and happiness is literally in your hands. This will last for their lifetime, so please also take an honest look at your age and activity levels and ensure that you are likely to be able to meet their ongoing needs.
