Beautiful little Mia has come into rescue from a commercial breeder, so whilst she has been well cared-for and well socialised around other dogs, she has seen little of the wider world, and is currently in the home of an experienced local foster carer who is both assessing her and teaching her about living in a normal home environment. Adopters will need to be ready to continue with this process, but already it is clear that Mia is a very intelligent little girl who will likely be a very good student! She is a delightful dog.
Mia is unknown with cats or small pets. She is very goo with other dogs, and her fosterer will be assessing whether Mia needs to live with another dogs as a canine mentor friend, but dogs of this breed/type are often quite self-reliant characters. Mia is unlikely to be used to children so we would not be wishing to place her with children under 10 years.
Mia is learning to walk on the lead, and this is progressing well. She is a calm and sweet-natured dog who is a very good girl to handle, just a lovely dog.
When a dog moves into a new home, they need time and consideration to help them feel confident and settled. They are having to adjust to a totally different environment, with new people and new challenges, and when one adopts a rescue dog, one must be ready to help them through not just the first few days, but for as long as it takes for them to feel comfortable in their new life. They are relying on their new owners to teach them the house rules and all about the new world they are living in. They are likely to need and benefit from dog training classes, and may also need behavioural help and the adopter may need to seek professional advice. If you are considering adopting, please be very sure that you are committed to the needs of your new friend, as they will be relying on you and their life and happiness is literally in your hands. This will last for their lifetime, so please also take an honest look at your age and activity levels and ensure that you are likely to be able to meet their ongoing needs.
