Handsome Max has come into rescue as a failed working sheepdog on a farm, with younger and more dedicated dogs now taking over the shepherding role! Max is now completely ready to change his career path and specialise in being a devoted companion! He loves people and loves to interact with everyone he meets, a really happy, pleasant dog.
Max has not lived with very young children, although he has been around older children. He has not lived with cats or small pets. He has lived with other dogs but is not comfortable with assertive male dogs. He is also not used to living in a house, because as a orking farm dog, he has typically either been out and about on the farm or primarily living in an outbuilding, so he will be a bit confused by a not=rmal domestic setting at first but is a very bright dog who soon learns new things. He walks nicely on the lead and is easy to handle, just a thoroughly nice dog.
As with most collie types, Max is a very active and intelligent dog, not suited tto a couch potato lifestyle! He will need an active and interesting lifestyle, and company most of the time.
When a dog moves into a new home, they need time and consideration to help them feel confident and settled. They are having to adjust to a totally different environment, with new people and new challenges, and when one adopts a rescue dog, one must be ready to help them through not just the first few days, but for as long as it takes for them to feel comfortable in their new life. They are relying on their new owners to teach them the house rules and all about the new world they are living in. They are likely to need and benefit from dog training classes, and may also need behavioural help and the adopter may need to seek professional advice. If you are considering adopting, please be very sure that you are committed to the needs of your new friend, as they will be relying on you and their life and happiness is literally in your hands. This will last for their lifetime, so please also take an honest look at your age and activity levels and ensure that you are likely to be able to meet their ongoing needs.
