ROSIE
Please read our Homing Criteria BEFORE applying for any of our dogs.
BREED: Cocker Spaniel
SEX: Female (neutered)
AGE: Aprox. 4 Years
SIZE: Medium (10 kg)
Rosie is a total poppet, and although she has come into rescue from a non-domestic environment, and is now looking for a loving, kind and comfortable new home. She is a beautiful girl and a very good girl too. Just a day after coming to DBARC, one of our wonderful supporters who is a professional dog groomer gave Rosie a total makeover, and everyone was so impressed with Rosie! She quite literally didn't move a muscle while she was groomed and cipped perfect manners and now she looks beautiful!
Rosie has not lived with children. She has not lived with cats or small pets. She is used to living with other dogs and would benefit from living in a home with another calm and friendly dog to help her learn about things that will be very new to her. She walks well on the lead but will not be used to walking in locations with traffic or in the outside world in general. Her coat will need regular attention from a groomer. She will need company most of the time.
When a dog moves into a new home, they need time and consideration to help them feel confident and settled. They are having to adjust to a totally different environment, with new people and new challenges, and when one adopts a rescue dog, one must be ready to help them through not just the first few days, but for as long as it takes for them to feel comfortable in their new life. They are relying on their new owners to teach them the house rules and all about the new world they are living in. They are likely to need and benefit from dog training classes, and may also need behavioural help and the adopter may need to seek professional advice. If you are considering adopting, please be very sure that you are committed to the needs of your new friend, as they will be relying on you and their life and happiness is literally in your hands. This will last for their lifetime, so please also take an honest look at your age and activity levels and ensure that you are likely to be able to meet their ongoing needs.
