HAZEL
Please read our Homing Criteria BEFORE applying for any of our dogs.
BREED: Labradoodle
SEX: Female (neutered)
AGE: Aprox. 4 Years
SIZE: Medium/Large (15 kg)
Hazel and her sister Roxy have come into rescue as retired breeding bitches, and although they are used to each other, we are not seeking to re-home them as a pair. However, both are used to canine company and would do well with another dog in the family as a canine mentor. She loves other dogs but is also extremely affectionate towards people and loves a cuddle! She is a happy, friendly dog with a constantly wagging tail, and has a really delightful temperament.
Hazel has not lived with children so we would not wish to place her with youngsters under 10 years. She has not lived with cats or small pets. She has been used to living with other dogs, and mixes happily at the rescue centre with other dogs of all shapes and sizes!
Hazel walks nicely on the lead and is a really good girl to handle, but she will not have learned much about the wider world so will need a calm, empathic and experienced dog owner to help her adjust, She is a beautiful dog, very eager to please, so will enjoy learning all about life.
When a dog moves into a new home, they need time and consideration to help them feel confident and settled. They are having to adjust to a totally different environment, with new people and new challenges, and when one adopts a rescue dog, one must be ready to help them through not just the first few days, but for as long as it takes for them to feel comfortable in their new life. They are relying on their new owners to teach them the house rules and all about the new world they are living in. They are likely to need and benefit from dog training classes, and may also need behavioural help and the adopter may need to seek professional advice. If you are considering adopting, please be very sure that you are committed to the needs of your new friend, as they will be relying on you and their life and happiness is literally in your hands. This will last for their lifetime, so please also take an honest look at your age and activity levels and ensure that you are likely to be able to meet their ongoing needs.
