Please read our Homing Criteria BEFORE applying for any of our dogs.

BREED: Collie Cross
SEX: Male (Neutered)
AGE: Aprox. 6 Years
SIZE: Large

Ziggy is a very handsome chap who has come into rescue because his owners are from overseas and have had to return to their home country for employment reasons and could not afford to take Ziggy with them. Unfortunately they left in somewhat of a hurry, leaving Ziggy with a Vet so his history is a little sparse. Since then he has lived with a rescue worker fo over a month and has now come to DBARC to find a permanent home. His rescuer carer has found him to be a lovely dog, with a real character, and very good with the multiple other dogs he has been sharing his temporary home with. He was also good with all the numerous people he met, and is described as a "big friendly fello"!

Ziggy is unknown with cats or small pets. He lived in a home with two small children but we d o not know their ages so we would not wish to place him with children under 10 years. As stated, he has been good with lots of other dogs.

Ziggy walks well on the lead, and is a haopy dog who loves his walks so will need a fit and active owner.

He will need company most of the time

When a dog moves into a new home, they need time and consideration to help them feel confident and settled. They are having to adjust to a totally different environment, with new people and new challenges, and when one adopts a rescue dog, one must be ready to help them through not just the first few days, but for as long as it takes for them to feel comfortable in their new life. They are relying on their new owners to teach them the house rules and all about the new world they are living in. They are likely to need and benefit from dog training classes, and may also need behavioural help and the adopter may need to seek professional advice. If you are considering adopting, please be very sure that you are committed to the needs of your new friend, as they will be relying on you and their life and happiness is literally in your hands. This will last for their lifetime, so please also take an honest look at your age and activity levels and ensure that you are likely to be able to meet their ongoing needs.
