ATHENA
Please read our Homing Criteria BEFORE applying for any of our dogs.
BREED: Lurcher Type
SEX: Female (Neutered)
AGE: Aprox. 2 Years
SIZE: Medium/Large (17 kg)
Athena is one of a group of three very similar dogs, probably sisters, who were found abandoned and in a critical state of neglect and emaciation. Virtually hairless and with every bone in their poor bodies visible, absolutely heartbreaking.
Athena is the most scared of the three and has been struggling with us at DBARC. She is friendly & has shown no signs of aggression but is so, so scared and would rather keep away from you rather than come up for a fuss.
We feel her best chance of happiness is to go to a home with experienced owners who have another calm and confident dog who will be a good mentor for Athena. She needs to learn life is not a scary as she thinks it is - and following another dog will help her so much with this.
In our paddocks she is a typical lurcher type and loves nothing more than to run and play - seeing her racing around just makes our heart melt!
She is definitely more scared of men than women, but she should get over this in time. Her sister was adopted a few weeks ago and is doing well in her home, but she was not as nervous as Athena - but is still a timid girl around new things and new people.
Athena is going to need an adopter who is experienced with nervous dogs who can help her learn about the world she thinks is very scary at the moment. As we have said - another confident canine friend will be a must to help her overcome her fears.
Please fill in our Application Form if you are interested in adopting this dog
(If the animal’s name does not appear in the drop down box on the form - it means the animal is already reserved)
