DOLLY

£0.00

Please read our Homing Criteria BEFORE applying for any of our dogs.

BREED: Lurcher Type
SEX: Female (Neutered)
AGE: Aprox. 2-3 Years
SIZE: Large (19 kg)

Beautiful Dolly was handed into a dog pound as a stray, and was unclaimed. A rescue worker noticed her, a poor little soul, so thin and so nervous, and decided to take her into her own home to foster her. Three months later, Dolly was doing really well and was ready to move on, so came to DBARC to find her forever home.

It seemed like all Dolly's problems were over when she was adopted, but sadly, three weeks into her new life, a problem occurred. Dolly was given a fresh juicy bone by her adopter, and became defensive of this special item, growling at the lady, who decided she could not cope with this behaviour and made the decision to return Dolly to DBARC. Poor Dolly had endured a deprived life before coming into rescue care, so it is not surprising that she would show some resource-guarding behaviour and fresh meat bones often bring this out in many dogs. We hope all adopters understand that dogs need time, patience and training in their new homes, and that adopters are willing to seek behavioural advice, something that is agreed at the point of adoption. Sadly for Dolly, this avenue was not considered. We would also like to mention that here at DBARC we have seen no sign of resource guarding from Dolly, even when she has been given high value things and observed carefully. Dolly, like very many dogs, needs someone who understands dogs and who has the love and empathy that Dolly needs.

Dolly was in a foster home prior to coming into DBARC, and was good with resident dogs, and even the dog-savvy cats. Although she was good with the fosterer's children, because she is clearly a sensitive dog, we would not wish to place her with children under 12 years. Dolly will do best in a home with someone who has had dogs before, who really cares about them and who is able to help her adjust to life. So, are you the special someone who can change the world for this lovely dog?

Please fill in our Application Form if you are interested in adopting this dog
